Note: Downloading the dictionary database for offline use is a Premium feature. If you’re using the free version of the dictionary, the offline database can’t be downloaded, and the dictionary works online only. To use the dictionary offline, please upgrade to Premium.
If you have Premium and your dictionary database download freezes at a certain percentage and doesn’t finish, please try the steps below.
Before you start: Make sure you’re signed in with the account that has your Premium subscription. If the app doesn’t recognize your Premium status, the offline download won’t be available.
1. Clear the app’s cache
Option 1:
- Open your phone’s Settings.
- Tap Storage. (On Android Oreo or earlier, open the App Manager instead.)
- Tap Other Apps to see a list of your installed apps.
- Find the dictionary app and tap it.
- Tap Clear cache.
Option 2:
- Press and hold the app icon.
- Tap App info.
- Tap Storage, then Clear cache.
Note: Tapping Clear data instead of Clear cache will reset the app and remove any data already downloaded.
2. Free up storage space
The download may also stop if there isn’t enough free space on your device. To check your available space, go to your device Settings and tap Storage (or Memory). Free up some space, then try the download again.
