Summary
Microsoft is permanently shutting down Exchange Web Services (EWS), the connection technology that OfficeSuite Mail uses to sync Microsoft email accounts. Starting October 1, 2026, Microsoft will begin disabling EWS access on a rolling basis across organizations, and OfficeSuite Mail will no longer be able to connect to those accounts. This is a change being made by Microsoft, not by Mobisystems, and it cannot be worked around inside OfficeSuite Mail.
Because this is a shutdown of the underlying Microsoft technology itself, it is not something Mobisystems can patch or extend around within the current version of OfficeSuite Mail.
You can read Microsoft's own announcement here: Exchange Online EWS, Your Time is Almost Up (Microsoft Community Hub).
Keep on reading to find out which accounts are going to be affected, what will happen to your email account connected to OfficeSuite Mail, and what are the necessary actions to be able to adapt to this important change.
Which accounts are affected
This change affects any account added to OfficeSuite Mail that runs on Microsoft's Exchange infrastructure, including:
- Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, and MSN.com personal accounts
- Work or school accounts on Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online
- Any other Exchange-based account connected through OfficeSuite Mail
This change does not affect accounts from other providers, such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, iCloud Mail, or any other IMAP/POP-based provider added to OfficeSuite Mail. Those accounts will continue to work in OfficeSuite Mail exactly as they do today.
What will happen
If you have a Microsoft account connected to OfficeSuite Mail and you don't move to MobiMail before your account is affected, you should expect:
- The account will show as Offline in OfficeSuite Mail.
- New mail will stop arriving, and you won't be able to send mail from that account through OfficeSuite Mail.
- You will not be able to add a new Microsoft account to OfficeSuite Mail at all, even if you remove and try to re-add it.
Your mailbox itself is completely safe - nothing happens to your email, contacts, or calendar on Microsoft's servers. The connection between OfficeSuite Mail and that mailbox is simply no longer possible, the same way it wouldn't be possible in any app still relying on EWS.
What are the next steps
If you use OfficeSuite Mail with any Microsoft account, we recommend upgrading before October 1, 2026 so your mail keeps syncing without interruption:
- Download and install MobiOffice from our website: https://mobisystems.com/en-us/mobioffice.
- Sign in to your account with the same credentials you would use for OfficeSuite. Open one of the apps, e.g. MobiMail, navigate to the Account tab -> Sign in.
- Add your Microsoft account in MobiMail. Your account should sync and continue working correctly.
FAQ
Does this affect my Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud accounts in OfficeSuite Mail?
No. This is specific to Microsoft's Exchange Web Services technology. Accounts from other providers are not affected and will continue to work normally in OfficeSuite Mail.
Does this affect personal Outlook.com/Hotmail accounts, or only work accounts?
Both. Personal Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, and MSN accounts run on the same Exchange Online infrastructure as Microsoft 365 work and school accounts, so both are affected equally.
Will this happen to everyone on exactly October 1, 2026?
Not necessarily on the same day. Microsoft has said it will disable EWS access gradually, organization by organization, starting October 1, 2026, with a hard, permanent shutdown for everyone by April 1, 2027. Because Microsoft controls the exact rollout schedule and Mobisystems does not have visibility into when any individual account will be affected, we recommend upgrading before October 1, 2026 rather than waiting to see if your account is affected first.
Is there a setting or workaround inside OfficeSuite Mail that fixes this?
No. This is a change to Microsoft's server-side infrastructure, not a bug in OfficeSuite Mail. There is no configuration change that restores the connection once Microsoft disables EWS for your account.
Will my email, contacts, and calendar be lost?
No. Your data stays exactly where it is, on Microsoft's servers. Only the connection between OfficeSuite Mail and your Microsoft account is affected. Once you connect that same account in MobiMail, you'll see your mail, contacts, and calendar there as usual.
I'm a paying user for OfficeSuite. MobiOffice does not recognize my subscription. What should I do?
If MobiOffice does not recognize you as a premium user, please, check the following:
You're logged in to your account. Please, open one of the apps, for example MobiDocs, close the pop-ups prompting you to upgrade, navigate to the Account tab -> Sign in using the same email address you used for OfficeSuite.
The number of devices is not exceeded. After an update, the app might detect your device as a new one. Please, log in to My Account - https://accounts.mobisystems.com/en/my-account, click on View next to your license -> Linked Devices -> Make sure only 1 PC is linked to your license.
