Installation Issues on Google Play Store

10 Steps To Fix "Can't Install App" Error On Google Play Store

1. Make sure you have a stable internet connection

Your WiFi or mobile data would need to be turned off and on again in order to do this. Have in mind that it's preferable to download apps using WiFi instead of Data, as that is usually the more reliable connection.

2. Restart your device

  1. Long press the power button on your device.
  2. Select the Restart icon on your screen and wait a few seconds.
  3. Try installing the app again after turning on your device.

3. Delete cache and data of the Google Play Store app

Important: When you delete the cache and data, it may delete some settings on the Google Play Store app like parental controls and password protection.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap on Apps to view the list of installed applications.
  2. Choose Google Play Store from the list, then tap Storage.
  3. To delete all of the Play Store's temporary cache files, tap the Clear Cache button.
  4. To delete Play Store data, tap the Clear Data button.
  5. Reopen the application to check if the problem has been resolved.

4. Remove and re-add your Google Account

Important: When you remove your account, some information is removed from your device. Make sure you back up any important information before you complete this step.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap on Accounts.
  2. Find and tap the Remove Account icon next to your Google account in the list to disconnect your device from it.
  3. Tap the Add Account button and choose Google from the list of available choices to re-add your Google Account.
  4. You may re-sync it with the Google Play Store by logging in with your Google account and following the on-screen directions.

5. Ensure that there is enough free space

If there isn't enough free space on your Android device, you'll probably see the message "Can't Install ABC App from Google Playstore" when you try to download an app. To check your device’s storage and to recover some free space on it, do the following:

  1. Tap the Storage Space option under the Settings menu on your device.
  2. Choose Manage Storage from the menu to see how much space each file and app on your device are using up.
  3. Remove any unnecessary files and applications to reclaim the space they took up.

6. Remove Play Store updates

While there is no way to remove the Play Store app itself, it may be successfully reset by uninstalling updates. Installing applications should be possible once the Store automatically updates. The Play Store updates can be removed using the steps below:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Apps.
  3. Expand All apps.
  4. Open the Google Play Store.
  5. To erase every update from the Google Play Store on your device, tap the three dots menu and choose Uninstall updates.

7. Update the Google Play Store app

This is how to update the Google Play Store app on your device:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
  3. Tap Settings, then tap on About.
  4. Under About, tap Play Store version.
  5. You'll get a message that tells you if the Play Store is up to date. Tap Got it. If an update is available, it will automatically download and install in a few minutes.

8. Check your device's date and time

Sometimes a wrong date and time can cause installation issues. Make sure that the time and date on your device are accurate if you want to fix this:

  1. Go to the Settings app and look for the Date option there to set it up.
  2. Next, turn on the Adjust Time Automatically button to automatically set the date and time according to your location and data service.
  3. By selecting the appropriate choices under Date and Time, you may manually set the date if it is still off.

9. Delete Download Manager cache and data

Important: When you clear the cache and data of this app, some settings may be deleted on the Google Play Store app like parental controls and password protection.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > See All Apps.
  2. Scroll to the Download Manager app and head over to its Storage and cache section.
  3. Press Clear Storage/Data and then OK.
  4. Now launch Play Store to check if the installation issue persists.
